How to Choose the Perfect Foundation Shade: A Step-by-Step Guide.

Finding the right foundation shade can sometimes be a challenge, but there are several methods that can help you find the perfect shade for your skin. How do you choose the perfect foundation shade? Here are our tips:

1/ Understand your undertone

One of the most important aspects of choosing the right foundation is understanding your skin's undertone. There are three undertones: cool, warm, and neutral. Here are some simple ways to discover yours:

– Look at the Veins on your wrist : If you have green veins, this usually indicates a warm undertone, while bluish veins often indicate a cool undertone. If you're having trouble deciding, you might have a neutral undertone.

– Pull a stark white t-shirt and look at the color of your skin compared to the white: does it look more yellowish? Then you have a warm undertone. Is it more rosy? Then you have a cool undertone. Not distinctly yellowish or rosy? Then you're neutral.

- How Does your skin react to the sun ? Do you tolerate the sun well and tan easily? Then you have a warm undertone. Do you not tolerate the sun and burn very easily? Then you have a cool undertone. Do you tolerate the sun but still burn quite easily? Then you have a neutral undertone.

– Which type of jewelry Which color suits you best? If it's gold, you have a warm undertone. If silver suits you best, you're cool. If both colors look good on you, you're neutral.

2/ Try out testers

Visit a store where you can try out testers of different foundation shades. Apply a few strokes of foundation to your forehead, cheekbone, and underside of your jaw (not on your hand or wrist) and see which shade best matches your skin. Check the color in natural light, as artificial light can alter the shade.

3/ Ask for help

If you're having trouble finding the right color, you can always enlist the help of a professional makeup artist. They can advise you on the best shade and formula for your skin type and undertone.

4/ Consider the coverage and formula

Besides color, it's also important to consider the desired coverage and formula. Foundations come in varying degrees of coverage, ranging from sheer to full coverage. Determine your desired coverage and choose a formula suitable for your skin type (e.g., dry, oily, combination). Mineral makeup offers a wide range of uses, depending on the amount you apply. From a very natural look that's suitable for everyday wear to a full-coverage look (that still looks very natural!).

5/ Test and adjust

Even if you think you've found the perfect shade, it's a good idea to test the foundation at home before using it regularly. Apply a small amount to your face and blend it in well. Check in different lighting conditions whether the shade matches your skin tone.

Remember that your skin tone can vary throughout the year, depending on factors like sun exposure. Therefore, it's recommended to have different shades for different seasons.
